Japonica
Japanese Quince, and it does have a Japanese look about it, I think. The fruit can be made into jellies, similar to that of the Quince tree whose fruit are larger and resemble pears. As a small children we were brought up in Weymouth and we had lots of fruit trees in the back garden including a quince and an old craggy mulberry tree whose fruit used to stain our clothes much to the despair of our mother!
