Barn Owl SOS
It's been an absolutely gloriously sunny and warm day here today. G took me on a bird walk she'd done previously in the Glaven Valley and it was a delightful walk including woods, a river, fields, a ruined church and lots of wildlife. G spotted this Barn Owl on the edge of the field behind the starting point, so we quickly took a few photos before realising it must be injured as it didn't fly away. It did try to take off, but didn't get far. So we went back to the Cley Spy shop and asked them to contact the RSPCA, but sensibly they called the Hawk and Owl Trust who immediately came out to collect it. They said an injured bird like this is often from being hit by a car and it was only about 100 metres from a road. They were optimistic about its chances, so fingers crossed.
We also saw a grey wagtail and toads mating (see extras). We were told about some otters, but didn't see them, although did see a skylark which was too far away to photograph and heard an owl. A most delighful walk with a stop for tea and cake about two thirds of the way round. Just perfect!
Thanks to Cailleach for hosting the Wild Wednesday challenge.
