Snowbird kind of day

We currently have 2 ft of snow, or thereabout. I lost track after the third time the driveway was shoveled. The snow on the deck , where our bird friend was , is up to my thigh. I am about 5'7". ( I used to be 5'8"- I hate this getting old stuff.) This was a big storm. Fortunately it is slowing down and is no longer coming down at the rate of 2 " per hour. Mind you, it is nice fluffy snow- but I am so tired from shoveling ( and two batches of cookies) skiing is not in the cards for today. I repeat: I hate this getting old stuff.
The problem with today was the large flock of mixed blackbirds primarily made up of grackles were hogging the feeders. The juncos were there around the edges picking up seed and the cardinals were trying to hang out and grab some. The smaller birds like my chickadees and titmice were not getting anywhere near the feeders. My dilemma is to feed them or not to feed them.I would happily put all 70 pounds of birdseed I just bought out for them , if they didn't chase the small birds off. Since I won't be here tomorrow to keep refilling the feeders ( I called in today - I  decided I was not going to chance it since there was a county emergency) ((and yes, even with a county emergency the 2 local hospital owned  offices and the VAH clinic  all started out as open for the day- policy is if patients want to come we will be there))((( which I personally think is too risky for patients and staff )))  I might see them leave for someone else feeders.
The extras are - another junco! Sitting on my heated bird bath , which for some reason isn't heating today. Hmmm- if I can find the cord under the snow, I might be able to figure out why. The second extra is a tree sparrow sitting on the snow shovel handle as the snow came down , down , down.
