Tourists in a City

Had my first taste of proper American pancakes this morning, they were delicious. Also saw two police officers who had popped into the diner to eat breakfast which made me laugh, thought they only did that in the films.
Aim of the day to day was to get to the Golden Gate Park. Mum and Dad had heard about a 'corgi-athon' on the beach so we stopped by there to have a look. I saw a humming bird in the park on the way through but didn't manage to get a picture as they are so quick.
Made it into the park, and used the free shuttle bus service which was great. We wanted to go to the Japanese Gardens so went there first. It was very pretty and nicely done, a little pricey to get in. We had a quick drink at the Japanese tea rooms, my drink seemed to be impossible to get into but got there eventually with a bit of help.
After we had gone round the gardens we thought we would have a bit of a look around the other areas of the park. We quickly found out we had to pay for each individual area so gave up and decided to head back to the city center.
I wanted to see the house that was in Mrs Doubtfire and I knew it was on Steiner Street so we hopped on a bus that would take us there. Unfortunately we started at house numbers in the hundreds and we needed 2640! A long walk ahead we stopped off to get a drink and I had my first taste of grape fanta, why do we not have that here? Also saw some homeless people making use of some very old cups and the unguarded soda machine, nice they could get a free drink on a hot day.
By chance en route we stumbled upon the painted ladies, they were very beautiful and clearly drew quite a crowd. I didn't know much about these houses but dad filled me in.
We finally made it to the house we were looking for, there was a tree outside with stones around the base with messages to the late Robin Williams, a very sweet tribute. We got a few snaps and I felt a little bad as clearly someone lives in this house so they must get a bit frustrated with people taking snaps on their front steps.
Next on the agenda was to go on a cable car. They are clearly very popular and get quite packed particularly on the weekend but it was another box ticked.
It was getting on a bit and I still wanted to find the road which is long and straight going down the hillside. Mum and Dad decided to head back, Caroline and I persevered and eventually found the road.
We made our way back and had planned to go to the Cheese Cake Factory for dinner. Quick change and off out again. Again somewhere very popular and maybe a Saturday was not the best day to be there so there was a bit of a wait for a table. Conveniently it was located at the top of Macys department store and the sofa department was just outside the entrance so could have a comfy wait. Once seated and ordered we soon realised our aim of coming here to make it to pudding and actually have cheese cake was not going to work, the portions were huge! The food was great though so we didn't complain too much but the cheesecakes on display did look amazing so I think a trip just for pudding another time will be in order.
Meals were polished off with some cocktails. Caroline and I had planned on going out to a bar afterwards but I am not terribly good with the whole 'going out' thing and I didn't see a bar I felt comfortable in so we decided just to go back to the hotel.
