Prevailing Winds
We got up early this morning to do a Mountain Hare survey on our local moorland. The forecast looked great and the walk up to the survey site was lovely. We were sheltered by a dense woodland to the west but when we emerged onto the open moorland, we found that the winds were so strong that I could hardly keep on my feet. Also, this meant that hares would not be out in the open, so reluctantly, we abandoned the survey, and had a stroll back in the shelter of the forest.
