Spring fungus
I had a very successful work party at the nature reserve today - 30+ Chiltern Society volunteers helped me with the last session of coppicing for this season. I found a number of examples of this ascomycete fungus in the open woodland edge where we were working - bathed in sunlight, showing what a nglorious day it was. I can't decide from the photos whether they are Black Cup, Disciotis venosa, or Hare's Ear, Otidea onotica. I think I will need to go back and collect some material to study more carefully.
