Holey raspberries
I found a few canes in my raspberry patch that had strange damage to the leaves. Something had cut out almost perfect semi-circles and near circles. As I watched this bee arrived and began to cut a leaf. It took less than 5 seconds for it to remove a section of leaf. You can see how it tucked the leaf section between its legs as it removed it. While I waited for the bee to return I could tell when it was approaching by its loud buzzing sound. It was much louder and a deeper sound than the bees I had been used to seeing in the garden. The bee is apparently a leafcutter bee and makes a nest from the leaves. They are highly efficient pollinators so I don't mind sacrificing a few raspberry leaves.
