Settle, petal.....

Yesterday, we had lunch at an Italian restaurant. It didn't start well....

There were nine of us, and we arrived at the restaurant en masse. So although I appreciated that the couple sitting directly by the door were in the path of an arctic gale as we all filed in, I did NOT appreciate the female bitching loudly about how slow Doris was to get inside. (Some of you may recall that Doris crushed his neck playing rugby when he was in his 20s, and he walks very slowly and painfully, with the aid of a stick.)

Anyway, this appalling woman sighed dramatically as Doris shuffled in, and said loudly to the people at the next table, "God almighty, could he keep that door open any longer?" I don't think she expected one of us to snap. "Well obviously, disabled people should be left at home, madam, but he insisted on coming out with his family. Selfish, isn't he!"

Satisfyingly, her face was as red as her glass of chianti by the time we all sat down.....
