North Third
The morning was sunny and clear so we decided to walk at North Third a now disused (I think) reservoir just to the west of Stirling. It was built in the early 20th century as a water supply for Grangemouth. In the days when Lyn rode, volunteered and worked at the Sauchieburn stables we spent many a happy hour or two walking the crags round North Third. Since the unhappy forced closure of the stables we've not been back. Today we climbed up Lewis Hill (really not a significant hill at all) which gives great views to the west. We could see Ben Ledi and Ben Vorlich still with a good deal of snow. Further down the hill were views to the east with the Pentlands very clear. Looking west as we made our way back down we noticed ominous clouds over the mountains and when we reached the car there was some rain. We timed it well; the sun's out again, as is the washing, at home.
