Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza
A beautiful day in Ronda, with clear blue skies and temperatures warm enough to eat tapas outside on a terrace with a mountain view but not too hot for walking around the town.
The first visit was to the bullring, said to be the oldest and biggest in Spain. I know that views differ about bullfighting but it seems to me to be necessary to understand it to understand the country and its culture. I wouldn't want to visit a fight as such but the history, architecture and art are fascinating.
Later, the Palacio de Mondragon had some very pleasant Islamic architecture and decoration. There are some splendid doorways, always a popular photographic subject. I enjoyed a backstreet scene, where it seemed that cars had climbed steps.
For the first time on this trip I haven't had time to process all the photos taken during the day, so that will have to wait for my return home. For the time being, there is, of course, Manzanilla.
