Diary of an Edinburgher

Wojtek

Well done moi! Up and out by 8.30 to the pool. I did manage a few lengths, but it was really too busy, so I flapped about did my cycling at the deep end till it was time for aquafit. After that exertion, I popped in to the gym and did my circuit. Well, almost did my circuit - I couldn't be fagged was too tired to do my second stint on the cross trainer, but - oops - I ticked it on my chart anyway.

However, I did make up for it by doing lots of walking today. Jenna came for Archie and it was such a glorious day that we decided to go down town and check out some places we can't go with a dog.

The first was Badger & Co in Castle Street. Lots of different rooms, nice leather seats and groovy lighting. We just had a coffee. Muzak rather loud, but fortunately it wasn't screechy, in fact, I asked who one singer was (Roo Panes), so quietly tuneful was he.

On a lovely day, it's a simply wonderful city centre. We took a wander down into the gardens, past the embarrassment of now defunct and fenced off fountain (extra). JR hadn't seen the Wojtek the Bear statue (if the bear is life-sized, then that chap is bloomin' tall). We met a cute wee female schnauzer - we see so many of them now.

We crossed through the graveyard (extra) and walked up Lothian Road to check out the new(ish) Wetherspoons in the old Caley Picture House. It's been really well renovated, excellent food, good service, and best of all - no muzak! In fact, we had the best chips ever! And a free drink. AND you can order and pay on your phone!

I thought I might try walking home all the way, but we realised that we'd better get back home to get organised for Rufus and his mum coming for G&Ts this afternoon.

Jenna stayed for a drink with us before biking home and abandoning her plans of doing some university work this evening. Tomorrow's another day.
