Monument to Anita Garibaldi

(Ana Maria de Jesus Ribeiro di Garibaldi) the Brazilian wife and comrade-in-arms of Italian revolutionary Giuseppe Garibaldi. They fought for the right of people in South and Central America, then Italy.

In this monument she is shown fighting and escaping, on horseback, with her baby, from an episode when her camp was ambushed and attacked.

This should be normal, a monument showing the woman as acting (with kids - well, a baby here - in tow) rather than passive. But because it is so rare, it is striking.
