La Maison Française

I pass this lovely building on the seafront every day and decided to stop off on my way home to Blip it.

I didn't know much about it's history, so I googled it and turns out that it was built in 1867 as a convalescence home for French residents living in London. Nuns (The Sisters of St Paul of Chartres) were used as nurses and were responsible for the home until 1994. Then in 1999 it was sold to a developer, and in 2000 it was granted Grade II listed status and it was converted into 14 luxury apartments which are now called The French Apartments and are on De Courcel Road. So we have a little bit of France in Brighton - isn't Google wonderful for finding things!

There's not much to report today, I've been back at work and my cough seems to be subsiding, so fingers crossed!

4 more sleeps!
