Pastures new

I'd love to know what these two are saying to each other!  They are lovely, very gentle Pekin bantams, still quite young, but bustle about like old women, chattering away!

New folk have moved into the rented house next door.  It has a huge back garden, where we have been keeping the hens over the winter.  The previous occupants were more than happy having them there, but this chap has a terrier and a two year old and isn't keen.  "My dog'll have them hens"  were his actual words!

So this morning Mike and I moved the hens, their house, and all their feed and bits and pieces along to the veg garden we have along the road, and put the hens in the pen we have there.  They still have to be isolated from wild birds due to the avian flu precautions, so we had to rig up netting over the top of them, but they very quickly made themselves at home.

Not quite as handy as being able to see them from the house, but it's good exercise nipping back and forwards along the road, and I'll be busy in the garden there before long too.  Better safe than sorry!
