Back with a Bump

The flight home was very good apart from one thing - the weather. There was a fair bit of turbulence along the journey but it was the approach to Heathrow when the fun happened. The wind was gusting at 50mph which is strong - especially on a big jumbo jet full of people! The captain did warn us that it was going to be rough, but the intensity of the wind on the plane was something I have not experienced before. It was a real roller coaster, up and down and much slower than is normal because the wind was so strong. The final lead in to Heathrow airport was along the Thames, east to west, picking up the major landmarks as we flew. It was difficult taking any image through the window as we were up and down like the proverbial yoyo. Thank goodness we managed to get down safely and I think everyone was highly relieved.

Then it was the journey home and the inevitable unpacking!
