Today has been 'one of those days'.  Work has been difficult, Andy isn't feeling well and when I got home part of my fence has blown down - again!  My patience began to feel a little strained.

This is the stump of a cherry tree which was recently felled because of its rotten trunk.  You can see where the water has penetrated inside the stem.  I was drawn to the colours of the growth rings and the lichen on the trunk.  Hopefully some local wood turners will be able to use some of the good wood.
