Looking West from Waverley
Yesterday afternoon I went into town intending to do some street photography. However, because it was cold and windy the upper parts of Princess Street Gardens where I normally look for candid urban shots were deserted. I took one our two shots and then got waylaid into taking diminishing perspective shots around the museum area. I crossed over the road to take shots of the castle framed by the winter trees but then noticed the lovely sinuous curves of the rail lines leaving Waverley towards the west. I tried various vantage points to try and get an uncluttered shot roaming widely over the castle hill side of the tracks. Unfortunately the overhead wires and trees tended to clutter the shots so I waited for trains to come into view to add a little interest. My main shots shows the piece of track the caught my eye but perhaps my closer focus extra shot indicates more clearly why I find it attractive.
I did eventually find an interesting bit of street photography, a couple of buskers who drum on an assortment of tin trays , plastic containers etc but unfortunately they were packing up.
