view to the Old Man

A walk from Tarn Hows, down through the fields to Coniston Water and back up through the woods. An early start to beat the tourists and the rain. We succeeded on both counts. Did a few good slides on the muddy grass going downhill but managed to stay upright. We heard a woodpecker close by but didn't see it until it flew off. 

The rain came at midday as forecast ......... that's two consecutive days that it's been right. We'd run out of bread and a few other basics so I drove to Windermere in the afternoon and stocked up. Very puddly roads  heading back home.
