Salisbury Museum: John Constable's Cathedral

With mostly dodgy, dark, dull weather I decided it was high time I did the inevitable and spent 8 whole English pounds on entry to Salisbury Museum.

Most town and city museums are either free or only a couple of quid, so with NO discounts for concessions either at my local museum, I've been very reluctant to fork out quite a lot of dough, to a museum that I have visited in the past.

It was when I read that even this entrance ticket which lasts all year is soon to be scrapped, as from April you have to become a subscribing member at £18 a year to be able to come and go for 12 months.

Constable's magnificent "Salisbury Cathedral from the Meadows" in real life was astounding and outstanding, it had a vibrancy and three dimensionality that you would never appreciate in print or online. 

This exhibition, http://www.salisburymuseum.org.uk/whats-on/exhibitions - ending in March - then going to Edinburgh - is supported by many other artists and painters, including Nash and Turner, who have captured Salisbury Cathedral through the centuries. I would say that it is a must for all Sarumites, (those from Salisbury, using the old name 'Sarum') such as myself, just a pity that it remains a bit elitist but do understand that such do cost quite a lot to host and the Museum itself is probably the biggest and finest in Wiltshire.

Anyways, I obviously was not going to take off the lens cap whilst in the Museum but I did pop into Cathedral Cloisters for a quick snap or two. Quite a lot of Spanish youngsters around.
