Life's Little Moments

...For my Nephew

Today's blip is for my nephew, Brian, who arrived home from his deployment in Afghanistan today. The best news I could have possibly hoped for today!!! A year and 4 days ago, he married his beautiful bride, Amanda, and one year ago today, I blipped some flowers from their wedding. So, I thought that flowers would be a good way to celebrate his homecoming. I am beyond relieved and happy that he is safely back in the States. And all the relief and joy I feel is nothing compared to what his parents, sister, and wife are experiencing. So this is for them, too. Welcome home, Brian!!!!!

I put the bouquet of zinnias on the deck to get them in natural light to photograph and before I knew it, a hummingbird had flown in to have a bit of nectar. So, what is better than a bouquet of fresh flowers? A bouquet of fresh flowers with a hummingbird in them! The whole thing is kind of nice in LARGE. I had lots of great hummer/flower photo ops today. If you'd care to have a look at the best of the bunch, click HERE to watch the slideshow. And be sure to look for the one of Attilla the Hummie - don't worry, you'll recognize it straight away.

You may also want to have a quick look at the shot I got of a migrant species that showed up in my backyard briefly this morning - beautiful yellow Wilson's Warbler. It came in while I was having my tea - quite a surprise and a bird I've never seen before. They are only in NJ for a few weeks in the spring and again in fall as they travel to/from their summer breeding grounds far north of us. My little Eastern Wood-Pewee also hung around the deck for a while this morning. I am guessing that I have been seeing him because of the upcoming migration. I never saw one until a couple of weeks ago.

Thank you for sending yesterday's hummer to the Spotlight page. I appreciate you all indulging me in my hummingbird obsession right now. It won't go on much longer ... but I plan to indulge as long as possible. (Fair warning!)

Hoping to catch up on your journals tonight. I'm a bit behind in everything right now, including comments.

Happy Thursday!
