Is better than Half a Farthing
Thirty years ago today, I ran home from Uni, expecting him to be in the flat, ready for a night of partying.
The flat was strangely quiet with the exception of my flatmates.
This was a time of no mobile phones... All I could do was wait.
Where was he??? had he left me? Had he run away to sea (no he'd already done that) had he been in an accident?
Then, an hour and a half after I expect him (yes, a whole hour and a half, during which time I had decided that he had run away, been killed, forgotten about me...), he came, and I exploded with not joy, but all my anguish, and terror.
And then he said "I stopped off in the town to get you this, it's valentines day".
Lesson to be learned. Never argue with this one ... he always has the upper hand. And always has ever since.
Am actually amazed looking at it - i've worn the bottom of it off, playing with it.
