The Bow Bells
The Bow Bells is a pub on the Bow Road near Bow Church. It stands on the high street aloof from the neighbouring flats around it, a traditional east end boozer retaining some of the original character of the area.
The Bow Bells nursery rhyme seen here is on the outside of the pub which by the way is painted bright orange. The Great bell of bow is refereed to in the final line of the rhyme. It is a cause for debate as to whether this 'great bell' refers to the Bow Church a few yards away or the church of St. Mary le Bow on Cheapside.
I like this picture because if the contrast of green on orange. It's such a statement and really cannot be missed by anyone going past.
