The Bow Road
The Bow road is one of the main arteries in and out of London. Since ancient times people from Essex and Norfolk would enter the city this way. The route itself would have crossed over the river lea and place names around the area (such as old ford) give a clue as to where one of the original crossings was. The area of Bow grew up around another such crossing and the word Bow refers to the shape of the bridge that once allowed passage.
Here the picture shows some of the houses on the Bow Road which have escaped the bombs from the second world war and the destruction wrought by town planners in the sixties and seventies. These homes would have once covered the length of the road but now only certain patches remain.
I really like the light from the sun in this picture it is wonderful here and the sky so dramatic.
