Arched Shadows
We haven't done a great deal today, spending the day pottering around Campeche. It was very hot with a fierce sun so we found shade wherever possible. One of the places we visited was a house known as Casa No 6, a colonial house from the 18th century; in the UK it would be National Trust property!
As my blip, I've chosen a view of a building around the main square with wonderful arches casting strong shadows, with the cathedral peeping through.
We walked along/beside some of the old city walls before turning in to find an ice cream!
Later on we picked up a hire car for the next week. We want to go to a few places that would be tricky otherwise including the major Mayan remains at Culkamul (I think). It's a very long drive but we are unlikely ever be as close as this again. We bought plenty of water and some food at a local Walmart so we should be fine.
There are lots of feral dogs everywhere, all friendly enough and looking in good shape but seemingly uncontrolled. Goodness knows how they survive in all the traffic.
