Royal Palace

This royal palace was built to welcome and host guests to Egypt for the opening on the Suez Canal, all done in the style of Versailles. It is now the centre piece of the Marriott hotel and still exudes grandeur. Is is just me who gets hints of Mississippi showboats about this entrance way . . . there are two or three replicas of such boats moored on the Nile a stone's throw through the back drop of this photo.

Today I coached an IESE Global MBA student in the Marriot, another personal-professional landmark that tickles me. He's going to send his driver to pick me up and take me out the Alex Desert Road for our next session. Your wander-lusting foreign correspondent didn't say no!
