hidden gems

Returned to West Derby Village (Liverpool) after yesterdays trip to St Mary's. Some absolute gems around the area, including some hidden pieces. The main blip is one of a pair of Lions guarding the gates to the estate (to the right of St Mary's) it's a shame they are quite hidden by the overgrowth. I was almost tempted to start clearing the area. The extra is a statue on a quite high pillar in the old square outside the church. I must try and find out more about its history. All this on our own doorstep and we spend so much time and money exploring the bigger world. Off to do a session room guiding at Speke today after yesterdays Tudor Tours. Hope it warms up a bit as it was bitterly cold yesterday.. Have a relaxing Sunday one and all
