Military Ghost Signs
It was an open day today at Mrs madwill’s studio, but trade was a bit on the quiet side. We did have quite a few new people in - so word seems to be spreading. I did manage to catch up on blip journals though.
I took Finlay out for short walk around the trading estate and I noticed these old ghost signs above a couple of doorways. They are obviously a hangover from the days when the site was a bomb filling factory.
The inscriptions read something like ’20 PDR A.P.D. (???) PRACTICE CORDITE CUTTINGS’ and ‘RECTIFICATION FOR 5.5 B.L. CARTRIDGES’ …. The abbreviations refer to different types of artillery ammunition.
After we shut up shop, I went down to South Leeds to our son’s house (a 25 minute drive) - he was out for the day and needed someone to let his dog out for him. I stayed a while and played with the dog and gave her an early tea - hopefully she will be fine until son gets home later.
Didn’t fancy cooking tea tonight so stopped off to get some ready meals…and something to wash it down with….
