Move in day

This is my mom's new (shared) room at Silverado. The other side of the room, where I'm standing to take the photo, somewhat diminishes the coziness of my mom's side. It's got a twin bed, a less comfy chair, a side table, a lamp. Thank god there's no roommate yet.

We brought my mom to the facility today and visited with many people. We've visited a few times before, as well, and she always said she liked the looks of it. When we explained to her that she'd be staying the night, she got very upset. I don't recommend this method of moving a loved one, but I couldn't think of anything better. Trying to discuss it rationally or build a case doesn't work. Just last week she said she'd like to live in "one of those places," but do you think I could use that reasoning today?  No.

So I stayed with her in her room till 9:30. I hope she was having pleasant dreams. I'll go and visit tomorrow.
