Life's Little Moments

...Blue-tiful!

As summer rapidly speeds towards its conclusion, I am aware of all the things that are about to be gone for the season. Not just my beloved hummingbirds, but these grand dragons, the bees, Mimsy, the butterflies and a host of other things. So, today when I took my walk around the lake, I thought I'd try for a few dragon shots. I got exactly one that wasn't blurry or rubbish and this is it. A common pond hawk, male. Pretty much a dime-a-dozen dragon, but one that I think is particularly beautiful , especially in BIG, blue large!.

I also came across the biggest black and yellow spider I've ever seen. I confess to letting out a little scream when I saw it. And I took this shot from a safe distance of 8 feet, fully zoomed in with Big Daddy. I took another shot of the humongous brute here - not for the faint of heart!

In other critter news ... Mimsy is taking up photography but not before she renovates the hibiscus pot. One of the squirrels came by for a visit while I was having tea on the deck this morning.

I am still feeling pretty fatigued, a symptom of the Lyme's Disease I guess. Irritating is what it is.

Thank you for sending my brave little hummie to the Spotlight. We are both chuffed (I love that word!). It seems that some of the adult males may have left already for the long trip to Central America - I only saw one today. The juveniles are becoming very diligent in guarding the feeders and the aerial battles are becoming more intense. I would say that the hummer count is probably around a dozen now, but it's hard to tell as they may be nectaring from some of the wildflowers that are blooming now rather than at my feeders. Time is drawing short, though...

Hoping you are all having a grand Tuesday!

And last year on this day, a little hummer was braving Hurricane Irene!
