I’m Not Sure I like this Ice-Skating Business!

Dear friend B and I attended a ‘winter photography’ workshop at Sculthorpe Moor (Hawk and Owl Trust) today.
The photographer running the course gave us a guided tour of the reserve and we picked up lots of useful tips on where to see various species of wildlife.  So we’ll be back , armed with fold up chairs and a flask of tea to watch Spring unfold.  It’s such a tranquil, peaceful reserve, partly boardwalk through the woods and then alongside the River Wensum, so not good just for birds, but dragonflies and water voles too.
We visited three hides today, and saw a water rail, a nuthatch, bramblings, and a stunning pair of bullfinches, along with the more usual chaffinches, blackbirds etc.

This particular mallard was treading very carefully over the ice, webbed feet not being the best design for frozen conditions.
