This is the George Square entrance as designed in 1865 for the North British Railway. This classic view was lost later in the 1960s with concourse expansion and modernisation creating today's dark gloomy entrance. The current Edinburgh -Glasgow electrifcation program includes platform extensions  a new concourse and a new glass frontage here incorporating the Millenium Hotel to the right ( former NBR station hotel)
