Lakes Distillery.
Today was a very belated birthday day out for Clickychick. When my Sis-i-L died she and my brother had vouchers for a visit to the Lakes Distillery as CC and I wanted to go we agreed to make it part of our usual "go out for a meal at birthdays". As emotions were so raw near Christmas we postponed it until today.
It proved to be a very interesting visit, from the buildings which were a Victorian Model farm to the Distillery itself. The only problem was photography wasn't allowed inside the distillery, why God only knows as apart from being small and modern it was no different to any other distillery.
The visit began with a talk about how Whisky is produced (along with the vodka and Gin they also distill). We were given chance to examine the raw materials and shown an aerial trip down the River Derwent where their water comes from.
In the middle of the room is a circular table with a 3D relief map of part of the Lake District showing the course of the Derwent from it source at Sprinkling Tarn to the sea at Workington. Basically from left to right at the front of the picture and then to top right.
