Here there and everywhere

Rome Airport

An early start this morning at 3.30am, taxi at 4.15 then a flight to Rome and a 3hr changeover. It's a while since I've done this trip to Cairo without Bb and it felt strange. I'd never been in this part of the terminal before (new?) and it was very swish and I was spoilt for choice with places to eat.  I had a tomato and mozzarella salad here and took advantage of the free wifi.  Before I knew it the Cairo flight was boarding and I was very pleased to get 3 seats to myself. Alitalia should really do something to improve the inflight food though. Just as well I wasn't hungry. Next time I think I'll go for a special diet choice.  It's a public holiday here today to celebrate the anniversary of the Revolution. Lighter traffic was the only difference I saw today.  Now tucked up in bed, having successfully managed to get my local sim card and credit for my 'travel phone' and a sim card and 250 GB of data (plenty for a month) for my ipad mini to allow me wifi when out and about and not just in the flat. At the current exchange rate of about 20 Egyptian pounds to the euro, it comes out at around 16 euros I think. That's pretty good!  Tomorrow morning up early to do the usual cleaning of my 'just cleaned' room, unpack, start to settle in and maybe a bit of essential food shopping. Into the school to work all afternoon/evening. Let's hope the Cairo car horns lull me to sleep now!

Happy Burns Day by the way!
