Madame Butterfly
Today Claire and I did an indoor shot in the porch since it was pouring down outside. It was very difficult to choose which portrait to submit out of the many we took. They varied in tones and hues and the hand placements produced much greater effects than anticipated. I had to use Claire's camera rather than the LX5 since I needed a more powerful flash because the natural light was poor.
The colours were worked to give the effect of an old postcard. This particular kimono is an original wedding dress with cranes symbolising longevity and good fortune. It often comes out for Christmas to hang against a panelled wall on a long pole! It's quite heavy and very warm!
