JAWS

Another course today.  Teaching people about SCLM - Software Configuration & Library Manager.

And nothing about So-Called-Liberal-Media.  Or Southern California Landscape Management.  Or indeed the Standing Commission on Liturgy & Music of the Episcopal Church.

It's not a difficult course but there are lots of exercises to do and it is quite easy to get to the point where you've taken a lot of information in, but you haven't quite processed it.  That's when people make mistakes.  But that's where I can help.

Helping is, in my opinion, somewhat underrated as a business activity.  I know a LOT of people are quite happy to say RTFM (Read The Effin Manual).  But when the manual has been written for people who know what it means, TFM that you're supposed to R can be impenetrable.

And you get that a lot with IBM.

I have a lovely example where they describe something in the Programmer's Guide.  They introduce a topic and say "for more detail please the Migration Handbook".  And in the Migration Handbook they have "for a more detailed explanation please see the Programmer's Guide".

After the course finished, I went back to our office and this was a part of the view.  Just Another Wiesbaden Sunset.
