The Ultimate Outdoor Gym, Maidstone

Another Sunday, so time for another long run. This time it was out into the countryside on a very hilly course featuring the village of Birling and Ryarsh. Unfortunately, we decided to take a "shortcut" through a new housing estate that we thought came out further along our route. We were very wrong - at one point we were stuck up a very steep, frosty, mud incrusted bank at the building site end of the new estate. After a very graceless scramble down the bank we had to run all the way back onto the main road adding a good twenty minutes to the run. The other problem with the run was the cold - neither of us had a a pair of gloves and it meant, for the first part of the run at least, our fingers and hands felt burnt by the pain of it. The compensation was the stunning countryside caught by the beautiful winter sun.Eventually, we made it back to the car and the first hint of warmth in about an hour and a half.
Soon enough it was time to do the weekly shop - we both felt a wee bit weary and stiff but rounded it off with a nice drink at a public house, called of all things, The White Rabbit!
Today's shot is a humorous take on the idea of the outdoor gym - this was abandoned on a side street near the pub. The title does have a point, though - I think exercising outside is so much better than being stuck indoors in a gym with music blasting away and "meatheads" showing off the heaviest weights they can lift - yuck!
