Reflections on the Women's March...

...protesting the presidency of Donald Trump.

We parked in the sunshine a few blocks away and together OilMan and I walked with our neighbor Ann toward City Hall, gathering up people , as we went along. The street in front of the city hall  was rapidly filling up , many, men and women alike, sporting pink hats, scarves shoes and jackets. the feeling was one of collective relief that at last we could inspire each other to take care of each other, respect each other, and stand together in opposition to the repressive and misguided policies of Donald Trump.

Even when the skies opened up and the rain poured down there was a celebratory feeling as people moved closer together to share umbrellas and body warmth. As our former congressional representative Lynn Woolsey said to us, "We want our President to know we are not going back. We want to let him know we are not going to stay in our  (liberal) bubble in the North Bay, where we actually get it."

A few of the signs that caught my eye:

"Our rights are not up for grabs and neither are we."
"Women united for good worldwide" and my favorite
"Make America think again".

A few of the pictures I took today:
A little girl in a bright pink raincoat carried on her father's shoulders
A man in a motorized scooter and a woman in a wheelchair traveling side by side
A young couple with no umbrellas being sheltered by the people around them as the skies opened
A few extras of faces that caught my eye.

The latest estimate for the Santa Rosa march is 5,000 people, considerably higher than expected in spite of the weather. OilMan's comment as we warmed up at home, "That was good. I'm glad I went."
