Naturally
Since returning to Australia a few days ago I've been noticing nature's bounty in this landscape with renewed appreciation.
I've walked on thick velvety grass and hiked through Mt. Taylor national park.
I've seen kangaroos,
rosella parrots and other kinds of birds that I can't identify but can hear the difference in their calls;
ducks on the lake,
horses and sheep,
eucalyptus trees and gumnuts,
tall bullrush grass and
a bearded dragon lizard.
On another note, as mainstream news has the tendency to, there has been blanket coverage and I couldn't face the saturation viewing of the Inauguration. Anything else that happened around the globe seemed to be subordinated as far as making it into the news.
The improbable became reality in November '16 and Trump really IS now US President number 45 and about to officially start sending a global ripple effect through the choices he makes.
Democracy is a linchpin of enlightened progressive societies. We have to accept that he has been voted in. Even if the marches and protests continue around the world, he's not an illegitimate President as some are saying.
My choice is to feel despondent (which I could easily lapse into) about the state of the world and the shift in geo-politics more and more to the right. Or against the odds, and this may be delusional as there seems little cause to be optimistic right now, live in hope that the reality will soon dawn on The Donald too that beyond winning the top prize as he may be accustomed to, if it's now time for 'making great', that means thinking great and doing good for ALL people and any time is a great time to start.
Also it would be helpful for the world if he receives coaching on how to go beyond bluster and become more articulate as soon as he formulates some progressive ideas.
Fired up.
Ready to go.
