Fixing the Matthew's mast

Wide. Angle Wednesday - Perspective: Fixing the Matthew's Mast

As you can see the Matthew is currently  out of the water at the Underfall Boat Yard, having work done to it.  In passing I thought it sensible to straighten the mast for them.

Bristolians know the story of the Matthew only too well, but for those of you that are not local, the ship is a replica of John Cabot's original ship, which was sailed from Bristol to Newfoundland in 1497.

This is a single shot taken with a 16mm fisheye, I have used a little dodging and burning to allow the lighting to assist in the illusion here.

As Hobbs explained in his rather brilliant note on the subject, in photography the viewer's sense of perspective is entirely governed by where the photographer stands and the depth of field being used. You can catch up on the rest of this weeks challenge entries here  WidWed63.
