You Can't Kill the Spirit

Marilyn T. Keller, seen here with Ellen Goldberg, led the choir rehearsal today as we practiced learning the chorus for Naomi Morena’s song “Like a Mountain,” also known as “You Can’t Kill the Spirit. It is a song Naomi wrote decades ago and it was adopted by the Greenham Common Women's Peace camp in the mid '80's. The camp drew thousands of women from Europe, the USA and beyond. Her song grew in popularity and was sung for peace and women's advocates internationally. We had a spirited choir practice today led by Naomi and Marilyn. The choir will be performing the song on several occasions in the next few weeks and will lead “The Women’s March in Portland,” on Jan. 21.
