Still..
...messing with these Inktense Blocks. But not happy with this pic or them.
I looked on You Tube and was not happy with what I found. Most people were using these for craft stuff or journaling. I was looking for something as using them in their own right. Not getting a tiny brush and taking some colour off a stick and doing a fiddly painting. That is not my mood today.
I wanted something more sweeping, turbulent...like water and waves but not a realistic picture. The house has got untidy again...and I didn't have any table space unless I tidied and put away stuff. But then my painting a day would not have got done...
So what to do...create a new table! I got a long sheet of plywood, put it over an antique blanket chest, and hey presto a working table!
First of all I used some masking tape...I tore that into strips...then I used the Inktense Blocks and then sprayed water over it all, no brushstrokes...it was rather wet and wasn't running into itself, so I put another piece of cartridge paper on top and pressed down on it. I ended up with an identically coloured piece of paper in mirror image (so this one will be worked on another day).
I let it dry and then took the masking tape off...sigh...the masking tape took away the cartridge paper too. Anyway, not to worry...I got some white gesso and used a palette knife and put it on the ripped off surface where the masking tape had been, and squished it into waves a bit. Then I worked into the picture with the Inktense Blocks. By this time I am using them a bit like soft pastels (I think I am missing doing soft pastels).
I am too tired to do any more. Been up since early. So this will be my painting for today. Something in my head is developing from this, not sure what. But getting the hardboard from the garage to make the table top reminded me there are some more long pieces in there, and I had intended a long time ago, cutting them up and doing some larger paintings on them...
So this is my painting today for my a pic a day in 2017.
