Fennel

I seem to have spent quite a bit of today doing taxi service, picking Alex up from a party and taking Chris to A&E.

On the way back from the pub last night (with Pete and I) he jumped off something and landed badly. It transpires that he cracked metatarsals in both feet, and has a plaster cast on his left leg, which is the more badly affected. This means I've lost a significant part of my Chatsworth survey team, although Pete's offered to fill in on at least one day, as he feels partly responsible for the accident!

Chris has to keep the temporary plaster on until he sees the specialist in about ten days time. Then he'll either get another permanent plaster which will be on for six weeks, or a supportive plastic boot. He should be starting the fieldwork for his Masters year in late September, so I just hope it will have healed sufficiently by then. 2012 is turning out to be a fairly stressful year all round!

As a result of all the drama, and a series of cracking thunderstorms, I didn't have much photographic time, but I rather liked this fennel against an unexpected splash of blue sky.
