Blood, Sweat, Toil and Tears
Today our new bells were dedicated by the Bishop of Chester in front of a packed congregation. It was wonderful to see so many of bell ringers from the local of towers who have been teaching us. Without them this would not have been possible. Also there were the band from the church where 8 of our 10 bells had formerly been housed. They had the honour of being the first to ring after the service and before open ringing commenced.
During the service we, the new band, had to ring the bells. There was a video link from the belfry onto a large screen in the church so that everyone was able to see the bells. Everyone that is except the band of course.
It has been a long journey to get this far but it has been a rewarding one and we still have a very long way to go. People were very complimentary about our ringing, they are a polite lot the bellringers, and said that it was a real achievement to have a completely novice band ring at a Dedication service.
