A bit of a wet day here.  So, a good excuse for a lazy morning inside catching up on the BBC2 programme about Orkney and its archeology.  I visited Orkney several years ago so it is interesting to see the progress they have been making with the archeological excavations.

Later I trudged up to the allotment and dug up some parsnips.  It was a bit of a muddy process, as was cleaning them, but they are now made into soup.  What with a little more cooking, a bit of photography in the garden and a short walk around the village, that is the best part of the day over.  This is a photo of one of my favourite plants in my garden - a witch hazel.  I would have a collection of them if I had the space.
