First time I've been in Hanover Street since the post box was painted gold to honour Sir Chris Hoy's gold-medal winning achievement in the 2012 Olympic Games.

Better shot with Castle in the backdrop will be possible once the Fringe poster column is removed.

Saw the double gold box up in Hunter Square the other day, but already had my blip and it was in the middle of a street theatre performance at the time.

Ah Edinburgh. It's going to seem quiet next week after all the Fringe madness is over.

Sign of the times: we may have been hit by the Olympic effect. Very odd vacancy in our cottage (unless we get last-minute booking) next week. A 4 or 5 night gap in our bookings before the September short breaks start again. I decided to work out a careful plan of Friday changeovers, with three short breaks for the end of August 2013. Spent quite a bit of time on it on Wednesday, only to bring in a booking for the WHOLE month of August! So good news for next year, but still doesn't solve the issue for next week. Short break anyone?
