Chicky, chick, chick
Just had to go back and try again for a clearer pied stilt chick photo. It has improved mainly because I used a tripod. I have cropped so you can see the detail. Extras show the original to give some background and one of the parents to show the sort of distance I am looking from. About 10 metres.
It was out running around more today and the parents didn't fly at me until I stayed too long.
I googled to find out that both parents sit on the eggs and help with brooding but the chick feeds itself right from the start.
It is unusual for one couple to be on their own, usually they are in big social groups.
This couple is a little late as well.
