Dolly and the Rio Formosa

We headed out early this morning to explore Faro in the daylight, it was already getting warm at 9am! We went for a walk around the old city, there were oranges growing on trees all around, and they smelled amazing, we might have picked a couple just to check! We went into the carhedral, where you can climb the clock tower, which gives you an incredible view over the Rio Formosa natural park! A very nice man offered to take our picture, so here we both are for a change! Afterwards we headed back down into town, to photograph the storks, they were all chattering to each other, clicking their beaks together, the sound was incredible! We were also lucky enough to spot a hummingbird hawk moth, although we only got a blurry photo of it! After some lunch we headed back to the apartment for a siesta as it was getting to warm for us, I desperately needed to apply some more sunscreen before we headed up to see the bone church(good photos in the link). The bone church is exactly as it sounds, parts of the walls are made with bones, there were a lot of sculls, it was oddly fascinating! We headed back down to Faro, and I was fully expecting it to get dark soon, but me being a bit ditzy forgot that the further south you go, the longer the sun stays up and it wasn't setting for another few hours, yay got bonus daylight! This gave us the opportunity to go to a wee garden I had read about, they had a huge family of peacocks, peahens and baby peachicks(don't quote me on the last one), and we spent some time watching them! So far, so lovely in Faro, tomorrow we are planning to head up to a town called Estoi to see some Roman ruins, I'm looking forward to that!
