Controlling Traffic In 1950's Berlin
Many Blippers have visited Berlin. How many have ever wondered what the above is , if that is you noticed it ? It's a traffic control booth ( Verkehrskanzel ) built in 1955 above the reconstructed Kurfürstendamm U-Bahn entrance.. The city envisaged traffic jams at peak time hence the construction of such . Several were built but were never really needed .This was last used in 1962. It remains as a curiosity of a time gone by and the German passion for cars .
