Power cuts - remember them?

We've had a few short power cuts over the last 10 days. Each one was only a few seconds, but long enough to mean that clocks, cooker etc had to be reset. This evening we were just enjoying Gardeners' World when the power went off again.

This time the cut was longer. After 15 mins I phoned to hear the good news and the bad news. The good news was that the engineers had found the fault. The bad news was that it would take until 11pm to sort it out.

Gradually I found and lit candles all around the house. Initially the light was poor, but as our night accommodation developed, we were able to see much more. The power was back at 10.15pm so well done to the engineers.

Does it matter that we missed Parade's End?
