The Old Station, Richmond
Firtly, thank you to everyone who commented, starred and favourited my 1460th blip yesterday. Your words were very much appreciated.
Today was the long drive back to Kent from Edinburgh. There is little to report other than thankfully another safe and hassle free journey. The roads in Scotland were very quiet owing to it still being a holiday. Bit busier in England but the M25 was unusually light.
It's always a problem knowing where to stop for a break on the journey. This time we opted to divert from the A1(M) at Scotch Corner for the short detour into Richmond to visit the Old Station for lunch, a coffee and to pick up some of the best scones in the UK. All three aims were accomplished although we brought the scones home with us to have with a cup of tea when we'd unloaded and unpacked.
We've called into the Old Station quite a few times over the years. The food and coffee is good and it is a fascinating place, incorporating the old railway buildings and platforms, several local businesses and interpretations of what it used to be like when it was a working station. Often interesting photographic and art exhibitions in the gallery from which this shot was taken.
